Britten Oboe Quartet

Nicholas Daniel founded the Britten Oboe Quartet together with his colleagues and co-principals of the award-winning Britten Sinfonia; they all bring to this ensemble not only the highest musical standards but also the experience of playing together over many years, resulting in warm, expressive and above all enjoyable playing. The Quartet is joined, for this concert, by the Momentum Artist, Catriona Lockhart. Momentum is a collective of leading solo artists who have pledged to support young artists in the first phase of their career by sharing performance opportunities. Coull Quartet

Formed in 1974 by students at the Royal Academy of Music, the Coull Quartet rapidly achieved national recognition.  In addition to performing and broadcasting extensively throughout the UK, the Quartet, which still includes two of its founder members, has made tours of Western Europe, the United States, Canada, Columbia, Brazil, Australia, China, India and the Far East, Iceland and Singapore and for over forty years were Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Warwick. ...

Leo Popplewell (cello)

Leo Popplewell studied with Louise Hopkins at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.  An experienced recitalist, Leo has performed at many British festivals both as a soloist and as part of the Mithras Piano Trio.  He has played in masterclasses, including for Steven Isserlis at Wigmore Hall, and has collaborated with the Wihan, Chilingirian and Heath Quartets, and the Frith Quartet. His studies have been generously supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, Craxton Memorial Trust and Coro Nuovo.  This concert is supported by the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme. ...
