Elizabeth Bass, a charming and wonderful musician, gave us an evening of delight playing works by many composers on her powerful Erard harp. A varied programme, performed with grace and dexterity, was beautiful to watch. The music, ranging from Scarlatti to Britten (including, appropriately enough, The Girl with the Flaxen Hair) gave a remarkable demonstration of the range of an instrument one rarely hears, particularly when played as well as it was on this occasion.
We are most grateful to the Countess of Munster Musical Trust for their support for this concert.
